Didn't get to see the Pandas last year but we made it to Atlanta this year!
You may have heard they're leaving soon. They're going back to China so we wanted to check them out in case it was our last chance.
Unfortunately we picked a rainy day to visit the zoo. Might have helped keep the crowds at bay though. Upon arrival we were told a lot of the animals wouldn't be out. We did see several signs in the enclosures stating this habitat is empty. At least they don't make you waste time staring at an empty cage thinking you're missing something. Usually the reason was they were getting a check up with a doctor or that they were at their summer home. Nothing to do with the rain it seems.
Notably the primates were all missing. No gorillas or monkeys or orangutans or even lemurs. Also noticed the lack of zebras and giraffes.
All that said, there was really plenty to see and we enjoyed our time wondering around the property under our umbrellas. They had lots of cool birds and the reptile exhibit was extensive.
The only wildlife we found were a couple chipmunks. Those are always fun for us Floridians to see.
Highlights were the elephants, the three male lions hiding from the rain, and of course watching the pandas chow down on some bamboo.
