I arrived in Singapore fully aware it would be one of the most expensive stops on my journey back to England without flying. Despite the high costs, I knew this fascinating country was a must-visit. With transport prices through the roof, I opted to walk everywhere, starting from Fort Canning Park—a beautiful green space in the heart of the city, steeped in history. It’s home to the original fort built by Sir Thomas Raffles, the father of Modern Singapore.

From Fort Canning, I followed the Singapore River towards the waterfront, passing some of the city’s most iconic colonial buildings, bridges, and statues.

By the end of the day, I quickly realized one day wasn’t enough! The captivating mix of modern and historical architecture, the diverse culture, and experiencing everyday life in one of the wealthiest countries in the world convinced me to extend my stay. Singapore might be pricey, but it’s absolutely worth it for all the incredible things to see and do!
