Emilio Herrera Linares, a Spaniard from Granada, is one of the most important figures in our country’s history, particularly in science and technology. Although he is quietly recognized as the creator of the space suit, his career and life story reveal one of the greatest figures of the 20th century. Unfortunately, his legacy was overshadowed in Spain due to the Franco regime’s repression of those who supported the Republican side. Herrera was a world-class scientist and engineer, a personal friend of Albert Einstein, and was honored by NASA in the U.S., the French Legion of Honor, and numerous other accolades from around the globe. Engineer, scientist, pilot, military officer, intellectual, and genius—this video is a small tribute aimed at promoting and honoring his legacy, which remains too little-known and forgotten in Spain.
