Finally! I get my Studed tires into some ice and snow this season! If you've never ridden your dirt bike in the winter, well your missing out. Here's your chance to have a first hand look at what it's like, and a few tips regarding riding in these conditions.

If you live in an area that doesn't get huge dumps of snow all winter long, then investing in a set of studded tires might be a great idea. you can extended your riding season into the late fall and even start earlier in the spring. OR there's a potential you could ride all year long! If there isn't too much snow to make things difficult, which I've found to be about 12" or less, then you might find that winter riding is something you can really enjoy. Everything behave differently on the frozen ground and through the snow ruts. It's a totally different experience than rubber in dirt. You always have to be on the hunt for traction and momentum. Forcing you to home your Ballance, clutch and throttle control. Learning to ride in the winter will help your skills progress immensely, and will benefit your technique in every season of the year.

Not Just that, but it's a heck of alot of fun! You wouldn't believe the hills and obstacles you can tackle with a good set of studded tires. GripStuds installed in an appropriate tire like the IRC M5B in the rear, or Mita's Winter Friction's, work incredibly well. Sometimes so good we refer to it as cheating!

Alot of riders in our area will ride all year long, us at Ride.Enduro included. So our trails are typically packed in and turn to ice. The speed you can carry while winter riding, once you get the hang of it and trust those tires, is not far off from a good summer day!

We've happily ridden in temperatures of -15 c with long underwear and just a light jacket. Some dual pane lenses for your goggles will help, or ski and snowboard goggles. 100% Brisker gloves are my preferred choice since only the back of the hand is insulated and the palms are an MX glove offering the best in feel and control.

If your interested, post any questions you have on this video regarding winter riding and we will do our best to help get you setup to ride all year long!
