New Delhi: Despite government plans to introduce legislative measures and impose stricter punishments to deter individuals from issuing fake bomb threats to aircraft, the situation remains alarming. In the past 24 hours alone, nearly 80 flights, primarily on international routes, have been targeted with bomb threats. Among the affected airlines, 23 flights belonged to IndiGo, 21 to Vistara, 12 to Akasa, and 23 to Air India .

These incidents, involving a series of hoax calls, have raised serious concerns within the aviation sector. The total number of such threats received by airlines this week has now surged to nearly 200, with the exact figure reaching 169. Despite the fact that these threats have been deemed false, they have caused massive disruptions, triggering emergency security procedures and impacting flight operations.
