This recipe was created by German and Swiss settlers who emigrated to Argentina in the mid-19th century to work the land in the Santa Fe province.
The "Torta Alemana" (German Cake) is an example of how a European recipe was adapted to what the region had to offered in abundance: wheat flour, cream and sugar.
Here are the ingredients in grams and cups:

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups of all purpose flour (250 gr) and a bit more if necessary.
1 cup of warm milk (100 ml)
15 gr of fresh yeast or 5 gr of dry yeast (1 tsp)
3 Tbspof butter (50 gr)
1/4 cup of granulated white sugar (50 gr)
1 egg
Zest of 1 lemon
1 tsp salt
1/3 cup of raisins (50 gr)

For the topping:
1/2 cup of walnuts (50 gr)
3 1/4 cup of heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup of sugar (50 gr)
