Journalist and opposition figure Omoyele Sowore was detained and charged with treason after calling for a peaceful political ‘revolution.’

Our TrialWatch initiative monitored his trial and published a report on his case. After more than four years of unfair proceedings, the case against him was finally struck out in February and, one month ago today, Sowore finally reunited with his family and friends in the United States.

"When I walked into the courtroom for the first time, somebody stepped up to me and said ‘we’re from TrialWatch’, and that was quite uplifting: to feel like somebody's in that room representing the outside world, quietly monitoring my trial," Sowore said.
