Nemesis is a peak in the Santa Monicas (Southern California), otherwise known on maps as "Brent's Mountain." A few things really make this peak unique. For one thing, it is extremely close to civilization, yet at the same time, offers climbers a challenging routefinding puzzle with obstacles such as poison oak, thick vegetation, crumbly rock, and slick, wet cliffs. Despite having a very short approach and a very short height at less than 2,000 feet above sea level, it's easy to see why mountaineers gloss over this gem in favor of higher summits. However, it is steep on all sides and requires complex navigation though a maze of gullies, ridges, and rock pinnacles, all the while battling thick brush the entire time.
