Former NRL star Jarryd Hayne made a public appearance in Suva, joining the Fiji Bati squad for training ahead of their test match against the PNG Kumuls. Hayne expressed pride in the growth of rugby league in Fiji and excitement about being home. Despite speculation about a possible comeback, coach Kativerata confirmed Hayne won't be returning to the international arena but will serve as a mentor to younger players. After his release earlier this year, following an appeal of his 2023 conviction, this is Hayne's first major public involvement in rugby league since 2018.
