As a sense of urgency drives decision-makers to find a reliable, carbon-free energy future, many in Montana are asking: Is nuclear energy generation in the cards for Montana? The recent NuScale failure in Utah throws a lot of doubt on how viable nuclear energy is for larger communities, let alone a rural state like Montana.

Join MEIC and the Montana Chapter of the Sierra Club for a two-part event series to discuss where nuclear energy generation is today, where it is (and isn’t going) in the future, and what exciting new paths are emerging to quickly decarbonize, maintain reliability, save money, and address the climate crisis.

Part 1 was online on Jan. 11, featuring David Schlissel with the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis, who will talk about the practicality and economics of nuclear electricity generation and what NuScale’s failure may mean for other nuclear proposals.
