BOLINGBROKE CASTLE | Lincolnshire Wolds History Hike | King Henry IV | English Civil War | Cromwell

In this video, I explore the remains of the castle at Old Bolingbroke in the Lincolnshire Wolds, the birthplace of King Henry IV in 1367. It was also the site of a siege between Royalist and Parliamentarian forces in 1643 during the English Civil War. A relief force were en route to support the Royalists but they were intercepted by an army led by the Earl of Manchester and Oliver Cromwell. The Battle of Winceby was the result which occurred 3 miles north of the Castle of Bolingbroke which ended in a Parliamentarian victory. The castle was surrendered by the Royalists a month later.
