Torin - 9 Month old Working Cocker Spaniel.
Building a strong recall is a super important skill for your dogs to learn. Here are a few of the basics to build strong focus and relationship with your pup. Orientation game working on your dog looking back to you each time you throw a reward out. Start with marking 'Yes' when they turn back to you. Then over time, you can add in your recall cue 'Torin, Here' and/or a Whistle cue when they are eating the treat off the ground. Build in low-distraction environments first. 20 treats a day for each set of cues.
Also, Nose to Hand Touch, Spins and cone wraps will all build focus and fun to your relationship, with the knock-on effect that they will boost your recalls as well! (1-2-3 Recall game - Susan Garrett!)
