This was definitely a tough day. I probably fished for five hours before landing a fish. Then another two hours or so before playing with big mama. I hiked in deep to start then throughout the day I worked my way down stream a couple of miles where I had never been before. A lot of work but it was well worth it. Yes, that second fish made my day, but the Otter experience was the highlight for sure. People who know me, know that I have a passion for all animals. To get within 10 feet of a wild Otter was truly a blessing and an amazing experience for me.
Not much action in the beginning but I want people who are just starting to fly fish, to know that some days on the river can be extremely rough. Catching a goose egg happens often and that's okay. It's not just about catching fish. Be grateful just to be able to get out and make some casts. Don't quit and you will be rewarded. Persistence really does pay in fly fishing.
Thanks for watching and tight lines
