What is it like to work as a street vendor in Honduras? I go out early to the streets of San Pedro Sula to accompany my friend Yulissa Castellanos and sell breakfast from a cart. At 5 AM, we make rice pudding, pancakes, and artisan coffee with her mom. At 8 AM we arrive at the San Pedro Sula park and begin to sell. I learn that it is not easy to be a street vendor in Honduras. Not everyone decides to buy, it's very hot, you have to walk many kilometers, the cups of rice pudding fall over, and we have to keep faith and trust in our products until the end.
The mayor of San Pedro Sula, Roberto Contreras, decides to try our rice pudding. Knowing that Don Roberto is a master chef, we nervously hand him the glass. How many points out of 10 will Don Roberto give us?
My respects and admiration to Yulissa, who since she was 8 years old, goes out early to the streets to sell breakfasts, water, and soft drinks. She supports her family through her entrepreneurship and with her savings she dreams of paying for university and becoming a business owner.
Thank you very much Arroz Progreso and Mythoz Café for making this video possible.
