Crown Princess Hong’s Dream - Arirang

Based on Crown Princess Hong’s Palace Party story from the artworks of The Ceremonial Walk To King Jungjo’s Tomb, the media artist’s work shows Crown Princess Hong’s emotion watching the party. The Gayageum-oriented music is being performed gracefully by a mix of eastern and western instruments.

Ep.01 Arirang – The morning of the Palace Party portrays the Joseon renaissance.
Reminiscing the past of Crown Princess Hong, Arirang, which is a Gyoung-gi folk song registered in UNESCO, has been used to emphasize the cultural significance of the Palace Party as well as the Suwon Hwasung Fortress. Based on Arirang, our melody's brilliance Is expressed glamorously through a harmonious playing between Korean traditional instruments and Western classacial instruments with contemporary chords.

Arirang Root expresses “Joy and Sorrow” as a motif, which is a theme of Unesco-registered Aririang among the Gyeong-gi folk songs and all regional Arirangs. Also, it suggests the future of traditional music through a mix of traditional instruments and western music.

‘정조대왕 능행차’ 그림 가운데 ‘혜경궁 홍씨 진찬연’의 스토리를 소재로 진찬연을 바라보는 혜경궁 홍씨의 마음을 미디어작가의 작품과 함께 가야금을 중심으로 동서양 악기의 품격 있는 연주를 선보인다.

1부. 아리랑 - 진찬연의 아침, 조선의 르네상스를 그리다.
혜경궁 홍씨의 꿈같은 지난날을 회상하며, 진찬연과 수원화성의 역사적, 문화적으로 중요한 보물이라는 점을 강조하기 위해 경기민요 중 유네스코에 등재되어있는 ‘아리랑’ 주제를 바탕으로 전통악기와 서양클래식 악기와의 만남으로 현대적 화성과 더불어 화려함을 더해 우리 선율의 위대함을 극대화.

‘Arirang Root 아리랑 루트’에서는 경기민요 중 유네스코에 등재되어있는 아리랑의 주제와 각 지방의 모든 아리랑을 모티브로 ‘기쁨과 한’을 전통악기와 서양음악의 만남으로 미래의 전통음악을 제시.
