Kátya Tompos was born on 13 March 1983 in Budapest. Her mother is of Russian origin. Between 2001 and 2005, she studied operetta-musical at the University of Theatre and Film Arts. In 2004, she won the University of Theatre and Film Arts song competition with Edith Piaf's song Mylord. After graduating from the university, she was a member of the József Attila Theatre from 2005 to 2007, and then of the Bárka Theatre from 2007 to 2008. He gained national recognition with the starring role in the Radio Vacka's continuing fairy tale sound play.
Her singing roles are also particularly noteworthy. She has performed with Goran Bregovic, the Budapest Klezmer Band, Robert Hrutka and the Söndörgő band in India, among others. In November 2013, she released her first solo album, Crossing Europe, a magical musical journey from England to Russia, with songs sung in English, French, Bulgarian, Hungarian and Russian.
Kátya Tompos has starred in several films, including Something America 2 (2008), Poligamy (2009), The Mummy's Fish (2010), My Wife, My Nephew, My Girl (2012), Coming Out (2013), Something America 3 (2018) and Now is Now (2019).
In 2007, she won the audience award for best actress at the Bárka Theatre. In 2009, she was awarded the Gundel Art Award, in 2010 the Junior Prima Award.
