It looks like poverty stroke or the village was abandoned after an economic crisis. But nothing of that...
This village got expropriate by the Belgian State in the year 1980's. Most left the village in the first years but now 30 years later there are still 3-4 families living in the village like nothing happened.

Squatters, photographers and tourists took over. But some day, this village will make place for a new dock for the Port of Antwerp.
