The description of the origin of Pushkar is found in the Padmapurana . It is said that Lord Brahma came here and performed a yagya. Among the major pilgrimage centers of Hindus, Pushkar is the only place where the temple of Brahmaji is established. In the Sanchi stupa inscriptions, whose time is B.C. In the 2nd century AD, there are descriptions of donations from many Buddhist monks who resided in Pushkar. In the inscription of Pandulen cave, which is believed to be of AD 125, the name of Ushamadavatt appears. He was the son-in-law of the famous king Nahapana and came to Pushkar and donated 3000 cows and a village.

It is known from these writings that from the beginning of AD or before that, Pushkar was famous for pilgrimage. Many ancient articles have also been found in Pushkar itself, in which the oldest is believed to be around 925 AD.
