Point Bonita, just west of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge was the second lighthouse on the west coast. Built in 1855. it was last to be manned with a lighthouse keeper when it went fully automated in 1980. I documented the transition in this story for the Today Show in the final week the keepers were there. It’s still a working lighthouse & tourist attraction today.
