The entire lock switch on my most beat up old SD card disappeared without a trace. I couldn't write to the card anymore, and each time that I tried it showed an error on my computer. To replace the missing lock switch I used a plastic butter tub, a pair of scissors, and a dab of glue. This whole fix only takes a few minutes. Make sure that the new block in place of the lock switch is firmly glued in place so that it can't wiggle free inside of the SD card slot in the future.

update 3 months later, this fix is still holding strong despite this SD card being carried around every day in a pocket.
