The roads north were not kind to my poor MoHo, but she's all fixed up now and ready for many more miles. It was important to get all of those jobs done, and it was important to get in some well needed time with family, but it feels great to be on the road again. The goal this winter is Mexico, specifically the Baja Peninsula, but I am in no hurry to get there. We talked a little this spring about slowing down and really diving into places a little more, and I am continuing that mentality south. This episode takes us once again coastal, but this time a couple thousand KM's south, to the beautiful Oregon Coast. These little coastal towns along highway 101 are such a joy to travel through. They come with their fair share of touristy shops and scenic stops, but they are all rich in history and you can just feel the Salty Sailor in the air. I have missed being at the ocean, so this is a welcomed sight, and with the ocean comes Crabs. Having this freezer in the MoHo has totally changed my life, but its not so easy to freeze crab so I only get it when its fresh. Then it's time to pig out!
I have done this trip down the coast many times as a young kid, but this is my first time as an adult. It is so nice to see the familiar old stomping grounds, and to enjoy some things I often looked past as a high energy youth. With so many memories in this area, I worried I may be home sick seeing it all on my solo travels, but that is not the case. The familiar smells, experiences and seemingly unchanged seaside towns have brought a peace into my mind that was really needed at this time. I unexpectedly even managed to find some new things. I have explore the abandoned warehouse here in Florence before, but somehow I didn't notice the house on the train bridge. Today, this site did not avoid my glance, and what a neat thing to see. I will enjoy some more days here in Florence, and then it will be new territory for me continuing south. I can not wait to share it with you all.
