My Favorite Appalachian Folk Song is hosted by Junior Appalachian Musicians to highlight the traditions of ballad singing throughout the JAM region of Southwest Virginia, Western North Carolina, Upstate South Carolina, East Tennessee, East Kentucky and West Virginia. These songs and stories showcase keepers of Appalachian traditions from ages 8 to 80. For our second series of MFAFS, we filmed at the Cherokee County Arts Council. Featured in this week's video is Wyatt Espalin playing “Alma”. Subscribe for more!

The project is sponsored by Paige Capos, Hungry For Music, Recording King, and of course BlueRidge PBS.
Recorded at Cherokee County Arts Council with the help of Eric Pratt, Jim Loyd, and David Hutchinson, and Kevin Combs.
