The team at NAPS (https://www.napsva.org/) are working on a Ghost Pot removal program for Northumberland County, Virginia. Ghost pots are crab pots that have been abandoned or lost b/c they loose their buoy. This leaves the pot in the water trapping marine life. There are an estimated 150,000 derelict pots in the waters of the Chesapeake Bay, and they can last up to 7 years. It is estimated 6 million blue crabs are estimated trapped in ghost pots every year. Numbers reporting efforts of VIMS, and NOAA.

This video is about setting up a kit to find them underwater.
I have specifically been working on a portable kit to find them using sonar. The star of the kit is side scan in combination with down scan, and sonar. The unit is a Lowrance Hook 7 Reveal.
