The French humanistic travel documentary series Les Routes de l'impossibles tells the story of the people who, at great risk, struggle to make a living by driving vehicles (cars, trucks, boats...). This is one of the poorest and most backward countries in Africa, where child labor is still a serious problem today. Although child labor is not allowed by law in all countries, especially for work that endangers the health, safety or morals of children. Due to a combination of poor enforcement, inadequate monitoring, poverty and lack of educational resources, child labor is still prevalent in many parts of Africa, and is concentrated in agriculture, mining, and small-scale workshops or factories. What you see here is a busy scene in a local furniture factory. The people working here are all underage children, the average age of which is 9 years old. The 5 year old in front of you can't even find his tools. The adult man in blue is the manager, responsible for supervising and instructing the more than 100 children in the factory. The manager claims that the children are already in school and are here on vacation to "learn additional skills. Although he tried to guide the children to answer the reporter's questions, the children's words and the calluses on their young hands showed that it was not as simple as the manager made it out to be. The children here work hard for 12 hours a day. After work, they eat like captive animals. The living environment is gray and damp, and there is no lighting. The humble bunkhouses are like prisons, overcrowded with people. In this country, the world of adults is even more difficult. Drivers in remote villages face challenging traffic conditions, and each journey requires a great deal of time and energy to get out of their predicament. These drivers are like a group of brave adventurers, driving all kinds of dying vehicles through the muddy and dangerous roads in the rainy season, challenging the impossible travel routes again and again.
