Discover the secret behind the contemporary sound of pentatonic lines as we explore angular sequences. These patterns introduce skips and steps, emphasizing fourths and wide intervals are are used to so many incredible modern jazz and fusion players. Mastering these might challenge you with unique and unconventional fingerings, but trust me, it's worth it. Our instrument demands some creative ergonomics to make these patterns sing, and I'll share some tips to make it more playable.

Take your pentatonic prowess to the next level by learning how to apply it to a II-V progression. I'll walk you through substitution principles for minor, dominant, and major seven chords, giving you the tools to play "inside" the changes. But that's not all – we'll also venture into using pentatonics to create tension and go "outside" the changes, adding a whole new dimension to your playing.

To bring it all together, I've prepared two short etudes for you over the first eight bars of "All the Things You Are." Watch how these concepts seamlessly fit into a standard tune, and get ready to incorporate these ideas into your own playing.
