कछवाहा राजपूत वंश भारत के सबसे प्राचीन और सम्मानित राजवंशों में से एक है। एक किंवदंती के अनुसार, कछवाहा वंश के संस्थापक कछपराज थे, जो भगवान विष्णु के अवतार कछुआ के वंशज थे। एक अन्य किंवदंती के अनुसार, कछवाहा वंश के संस्थापक राजा कुश थे, जो भगवान राम के पुत्र थे।

कछवाहा वंश का प्रारंभिक इतिहास अस्पष्ट है। प्रारंभ में, कछवाहा वंश के शासक राजस्थान के उत्तरी भाग में शासन करते थे। ११ वीं शताब्दी में, कछवाहा वंश के शासक दूल्हेराय ने दौसा में अपनी राजधानी स्थापित की। दूल्हेराय के बाद, कछवाहा वंश के शासकों ने धीरे-धीरे अपने क्षेत्र का विस्तार किया।
