It is the largest Orthodox church built by Georgia after its independence from the Soviet Union. It is also the largest religious building in the Caucasus. It ranks third among the Orthodox cathedrals in the world. The main cathedral building is about 87.1 meters high. It is commonly known as Sameba, is a synthesis of traditional styles dominating the Georgian church architecture at various stages in history
