Los camiones o semirremolques, así como los automóviles, deben someterse a pruebas de choque, o como se dice en inglés, Crash Test. Y aunque algunas de estas pruebas son las mismas a las que se someten los automóviles de producción, otras están diseñadas específicamente para camiones. Gracias a empresas de transporte como Volvo y Scania, así como al Instituto de Seguros para la Seguridad en las Carreteras (conocido como IIHS), los estándares de seguridad para estos camiones no hacen más que mejorar.
