1 July, 2024 Day 9
Zero Miles Today

Spent a rest day in Sandpoint, resting, eating and doing laundry.

Was a nice relaxing day. Have a really long day planned tomorrow to Libby, Montana. Something like 100 miles and that is sitting in the back of my mind.

Got some ice cream and some Mexican food for lunch. Was a huge chimichanga. Saved 1/2 in the fridge for breakfast tomorrow.

Sandpoint is a pretty town, would visit again.

Bought some extras shorts so I can have something to swim in.

2 July 2024, Day 10
99 Miles today, 561 Miles for the trip.
Sandpoint, ID to Libby, MT

Really enjoyed my day today. The road was pretty flat with some rolling hills. Beautiful scenery along a lake and a river.

Secured lodging at a motel so my anxiety about sleeping somewhere was gone and I could enjoy my ride.

Really poured down rain on me the last 10 miles and got pretty soaked. Laundered my bike stuff and had McDonalds for dinner.

Still trying to make sure I’m eating enough. Tomorrow on to Eureka, MT.

3 July, 2024 Day 11
68 miles today, 629 Miles for the trip.
Libby, MT to Eureka, MT

Had some trouble finding places to stay tonight and tomorrow in Whitefish.

I was able to secure a campsite at the city park in Eureka and my first Warmshowers host in Whitefish so my anxiety levels went way down.

Left knee started bothering me and that kinda scared me.

Today was a lot of small hills to climb and the same number of descents.

It rained 3 or 4 times and that made mine cold, wet, and down.

The scenery was pretty but it’s hard to enjoy it when you’re suffering. I took some Advil and pushed through.

By the time I got close to Eureka, I was pretty much spent.

I stopped at a convenience store / Subway and had an early dinner. It was still raining outside and I wanted to wait it out.

Instead of going into town and setting up camp at the park, I decided to rent a room at the motel next to the store and get clean and dry. I felt like I’m cheating a bit, but it’s nice to have a good bed and a warm shower after a long day.

Going to spend the evening planning out my route to Whitefish tomorrow and charging my stuff.

Hope tomorrow is warmer.
