In this Video I speak with Designer Lyn Kream about her job as a Drag Costumer Designer. Lyn has parlayed an overactive imagination into a career in costume design and custom sewing, specializing in Drag costuming & other custom design work, including one of a kind formalwear and Bridal.

Lyn's background is in theatrical and ballet costuming, including quick change, costume crafts, painting and dyeing, and millinery. In 2015 she acquired her BFA in costume production at Peck School of the Arts at UW Milwaukee. Lyn is currently employed at the Milwaukee Ballet as a Draper and Costume Coordinator, with major contributions building for two world premiere ballets, and designing and building costumes for their renowned school, academy and second company, MBII. Lyn is also an adjunct professor at Edessa School of Fashion, also located in Milwaukee, WI.

As a freelance artist, Lyn costumes the crème de la crème of Milwaukee drag. Her costumes can be seen on stages across the state, pageants across the country and internationally on RuPaul’s Drag Race (Trixie Mattel, Jaida Essence Hall, Orion Story, Jessica Wild) as well as Camp Wanakiki (Sylvia Nyxx, Jaclyn Jill). Drag costuming offers the height of creativity with a constant stream of challenges and learning opportunities. It is a one-of-a-kind collaborative effort, and Lyn finds the opportunity to work with other artists to help them bring their personas to life, so rewarding.
