How to measure WiFi signal strength?
In order to accurately measure the strength, you should use a WiFi analyzer.
A WiFi analyzer is a tool that will quantify the strength of a WiFi signal by assigning it a value between -30 an -90. These values are in decibel milliwatts, and a score of -30 reflects the strongest possible WiFi connection you can have. On the other end of the spectrum, a -90 score reflects the weakest possible WiFi signal you can have.
If you take a device with an installed WiFi analyzer to different areas of your home where you access the internet, you can measure the WiFi signal strength in each of these areas.

If all of these areas are receiving a strong WiFi signal strength, your router is in an optimal position.

If some of the areas where you frequently access the internet are getting a weak WiFi signal, your modem may not be in an optimal location. If this is the case in your home, you may want to move your router to a different location and retest the WiFi signal strength in the areas where you access the internet.

By moving your router a few times and retesting your WiFi signal strength, you’ll be able to determine the configuration that provides the best WiFi signal to the areas of your home where you need it.
