This is one of a pair of antique French leather club chairs that we received from a local art collector, after her dog decided to chew up the original leather on the chair’s armrests one day. Horrified by this sight, she reached out to us to assess the damage, and after learning how costly and difficult the project was going to be, they graciously passed the pair of chairs onto us for restoration.

This chair was made sometime in the 1940s in Paris, France in what collectors refer to as the ‘mustache’ chair, owed in full to the “mustache” style silhouette on the chair’s backrest. These chairs were deliberately crafted with a, “streamlined” art deco style, typically seated low to the ground, with a reclining posture that makes it almost impossible not to sink into its puffy arms and thick cushion.

It took me 2 months to finished this restoration, so if you enjoyed this video, please like and subscribe to see more vintage finds and restoration (think of it as tipping your waiter).
