Part 1 of my adventure on Te Araroa trail, a thru-hike across New Zealand.

After my thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail last summer, I found myself longing for the simplicity of trail life once more. Before I knew it, I was boarding a plane bound for New Zealand, in pursuit of adventure.

This chapter documents my time on the North Island. Rolling hills, ridgelines, and coastal sunsets made this section an incredible introduction to my hike.

With both time and monetary constraints, I chose to begin my adventure in Palmerston North, with plans to hike south, all the way to Bluff.
