In 2022, the Knights of Columbus instituted the Blessed Michael McGivney Medal, given annually to a Knights of Columbus chaplain whose priestly zeal and exemplary service are in the finest traditions of our Founder. The 2024 recipient of the Blessed Michael McGivney Medal, State Chaplain of North Dakota, Father Chad Wilhelm.
Father Chad Wilhelm is a parish priest in North Dakota who lives by the motto, “The reward of work is better work.” He has been a Knight’s chaplain for 16 years as well as serving in the role of state chaplain. His untiring support of his parish follows the model of Blessed Michael McGivney, engaging with the families and youth of his parish and encouraging men to join the Knights of Columbus.
Father Chad says, “Just be yourself. That is the gift that Father McGivney gave me, the gift of being just a regular parish priest. That’s who Father McGivney was, just a regular everyday parish priest who loved his people.”
