Your pelvic floor muscles need to be strong, but they also need to relax completely. Just like any other muscle in your body, your pelvic floor needs to be relaxed and stretched. A pelvic floor that is too tense can lead to all kinds of crappy and hard-to-diagnose issues. Do your pelvic floor a favor and try this yoga quickie at home to breath deeply, release tension, and stretch it out. No props necessary. For those suffering with painful period cramps, this can help calm things down before or after your heavy days. For my pregnant peeps, you can practice the breathing exercise in the beginning, but avoid the rest because this practice is done mostly lying on your back, with long twists at the end. As always, only do what feels good in your body!
