About Gurez Valley, Kashmir: Gurez, or Gurais is a valley located in the high Himalayas, about 86 kilometres (53 mi) from Bandipore and 123 kilometres (76 mi) from Srinagar. It is also the homeland and last sanctuary for the Dardic people in India. Historically, Gurez was part of ancient Dardistan. It fell along the old Silk Route, which connected the Kashmir Valley with Gilgit-Baltistan before continuing further to the Kashgar region of China.

How to reach Gurez Valley: Buses run from Srinagar to Bandipora at regular intervals. From Bandipora you can get the bus to Gurez valley, but the buses frequency are really low in this route. So, better hire your own private cab from Srinagar itself to reach Gurez valley in Kashmir. The trip takes about six to seven hours and provides beautiful views of the valleys and mountains.
