Gunma Prefecture is a treasure trove of colorful autumn leaves viewing spots! In Part 1 and Part 2, we will introduce 15 places in Gunma Prefecture with spectacular autumn leaves.
In the second part, we will introduce 9 autumn leaves viewing spots that will be at their best from mid-October onward, including "Mt. Akagi," "Mt. Haruna," and "Mt. Myogi," known as the "three mountains of Jomo," and "Oni-Oshidashi" and "Asama Farm," with "Mt.Asama" towering behind it.

■Mt. Akagi ( Mid-October to early November )
Mt. Akagi is a volcano located in the center of Gunma Prefecture and is one of the "100 greatest mountains in Japan". The summit is a caldera, with several peaks such as Mt. Kurohi and Mt. Komagatake, and lakes and wetlands such as Ono, Kono, and Kakumanbuchi scattered throughout the mountain. Together with Mt. Haruna and Mt. Myogi, it is one of the "Jomo Sanzanzan" (Three Mountains of Jomo).

■Mt. Haruna ( Late October - Early November )
Mt. Haruna is a 1,390-meter-high mountain located in the central part of Gunma Prefecture, and Lake Haruna is a caldera lake at the summit of Mt. Haruna. Haruna Fuji, the highest peak on the mountain, can be viewed from many places along the lake, and silver grass and maple trees can also be seen along the lake. Sightseeing boats are actively operated on Lake Haruna, and a ropeway takes visitors up to the summit of Mt. Haruna.

■Mt. Myogi ( Late October to Mid November )
Mt. Myogi, with its unique mountain shape and rugged rock surface, has been selected as one of the "100 best autumn leaves viewing spots in Japan". Mt. Myogi is the collective name for several peaks. There is a well-maintained "intermediate trail" walking halfway up Mt. Myogi, especially the "Ishimon Meguri" (stone gate tour), a climbing course that can be enjoyed by beginners.

■Onioshidashi ( Late October to early November )
Onioshidashi is an area of oddly shaped rocks created by lava from the eruption of Mt. Asama.
Mt. Asama rises 2,568 meters above sea level and is one of the "100 greatest mountains in Japan".

■Asama Farm ( Late October to early November )
Asama Farm is located at an elevation of approximately 1,300 meters at the northeastern foot of Mt. Asama (2,568 meters above sea level) towering behind the autumn leaves, visitors can enjoy the contrast between the pastoral atmosphere and the rugged appearance of Mt. Asama.

■Megane Bridge ( early to mid November )
Usui Daisan Bridge (Usui No. 3 Bridge) is a four-row brick arch bridge over the Usui River. It was completed in 1892 and was a railway bridge for the Abt Railway, which was discontinued in 1963, but it is still popularly known as "Megane-bashi" (Megane Bridge).

■Agatsuma Valley ( Late October - Early November )
Agatsuma Valley is located in the northwestern part of Gunma Prefecture and is designated as a national scenic beauty spot. A promenade is maintained along the valley, where visitors can stroll and enjoy the beauty of the valley.

■Sakurayama Park ( Early to late November )
Sakurayama Park is famous for its winter cherry blossoms that bloom from fall to winter, and has been selected as one of the "100 best cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan" as well as a national "scenic beauty spot" and "natural monument".

■Daruma-ji Temple ( Mid-November to early December )
Daruma-ji Temple is a Zen Buddhist temple located on the outskirts of Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture, and is famous as the birthplace of the "lucky charm Daruma" associated with the great priest Daruma.
