In this Steve's Garage video I remove and install the oil pan and oil pickup tube on a MK4 VW 1.8t. This job can be done in conjunction with the turbo oil return line since it has to be disconnected to removed the oil pan. You can watch that video here:    • MK4 VW 1.8t Turbo Oil Return Line Rep...

The oil pan on my car is the single piece aluminum pan. Your car may have the two piece hybrid oil pan, but the procedure is still the same (provided you're not splitting the two piece pan).

If you're removing the oil pan to re-seal it, it's a good idea to change the pickup tube while you're at it. You never know if the o-ring will be bad, or the screen clogged. It's one of those jobs where you might as well replace everything you're removing or have access to while you're there. This isn't a hard job, but it does require some patience, and it's not that fun laying on your back under dripping oil.

As always, I assume no responsibility should you mess up your car doing following this video. Have fun, be safe, thanks for watching!
