Yes, clunky but spot-on title. This farm is hardly a starship, but it is my only life-supporting "vessel" and all work to save it looks lost. Lack of resources and state of world yet offers no options besides camping in a field BUT hope yet exists and while CCC seems to be hitting atmosphere and starting to flame up (METAPHORICALLY SPEAKING, by the way).
A lot of the drama is absurd, illogical and unexpected in most realities, I swear. But in midst of it now, nobody likes to hear a list of whinings (lots of people more deserving will have lots of bigger troubles) but The End is Nigh (thus for the channel). May as well join me in The Fall if you checked in before. Much appreciated, by the way. Helped keep me sane, All You Wonderful People Out There In The Dark.
As above, I didn't expect to yammer further but every action feels like it needs disclaimers. Oh, but the bizarre specific truths behind it all!
1. I have been served notice to vacate and overdue.
2. I have NOT yet been served a court date that would be non-negotiable.
3. I have continued to pay rent/expenses, take care of things since I am here and in constant comms with the owner.
4. BEYOND all that, have been getting "attacked" by side angles, more than one Tholian, believe me, unwillings to open communications and after hit after hit, had to take some actions to defend self. Again, metaphorically, not with any weapons. Yet the "hits" were real, threatening, multiple, beyond reason and needed more than being a meek standing target. Matter fact, ALL of this is an attack where all I want is to keep living quietly.
5. I do not want to leave area and have more reasons than my heart. However, this patch of ground is not the whole of it and recent developments SUGGEST enough that I'm saving ... hoping, praying ... that I can use a scene from "The Deadly Years" as synonymous as well.
Overall disclaimer: The fight is a fight but more a struggle against overwhelming, outnumbered odds, re: CCC itself. Behind the scenes (my mind at least) is NASA Mission Control after Apollo 13 had a little "problem."

All actions are backed with respect, insane hopes things STILL could be saved at the last minute OR being able to return. Even if it IS car camping in a field as winter comes on, that will be due to working other options. Leads are popping up fast and furious; just takes one. SO, DARK TIMES, losing the farm like an old movie but not my style nor any need for anything dramatic and/or dumb like barricading myself in cabin behind a wall of squash, lighting petulant fires or anything like that.

May be ... who knows? One of those new leads (the most glorious if biggest stretch at the moment) could be gaining my own little parcel down the valley and starting my own CCC WITHOUT landlords, etc. The appraisals were almost within home range ... but many, many frontier reasons for that. Stand by. Call it what you will. Movies, TV and stories, the good ones, impact you for a reason. Years ago I was in a worse, acute situation (see The Rescue) going down in a sinking boat, trapped in slush ice with ZERO options but using the Mossberg vs freeze-drowning bait for a nearby Orca pod. Options died, one by one. No way to make a vertical cliff "shore" in the ocean inlet (Observatory; B.C. Canada). The "boat" I saw was only a channel marker bouy; a floatable object but no way to make it. Instead of PANIC overwhelming, I kept flashing on Star Trek, how the Enterprise sometimes had 2 or 3 threats of doom at one time. HAD to be SOMETHING!
Then a totally-random seaplane with a list of reasons why he shouldn't have been there, low enough to be able to spot the sinking 30-footer in a 3-miles wide inlet OR the fact he even saw at all. Never give up. And if you do go down, do so with head up so that you can stand tall again once pulling out of it.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. MORE POWER TO THE SHIELDS!
