4 superbikes in a comparison test: Who builds the best road bike? We pitted the two new superbikes Trek Madone SLR and Canyon Aeroad CFR against the already established top dogs S-Works Tarmac SL8 and Giant Propel Advanced SL.

What do we mean by superbikes? That is quickly explained, because there are ultimately only two requirements: True aerodynamic optimization and a weight below or at the 7-kilo mark. This category includes bikes that seemed unthinkable a few years ago, because back then you either had to opt for good aerodynamics or a low weight. However, modern carbon construction and well thought-out components, as well as new findings in aerodynamics, have made racing bikes possible in recent years that can claim similar or equally good aerodynamics as pure aero racing bikes and the same low weight as competition racing bikes.
