Written in honor and in memory of our beloved cat, Yuna.

The week after losing our Yuna in late 2019, my wife picked up her violin and found that a specific melody kept coming out as she played from the heart. She decided to record her playing, and I joined her with the accordion as she played. An emotional, powerful piece came to life as we played in honor of our Yuna, which we were able to fully capture in the recording. I then transcribed the original recording and we refined it to its final version over the course of several months.

Yuna was more than just a cat to us: she was our fuzzy daughter who filled our hearts with love and happiness from the day we first brought her home in 2010, through every minute of the difficult week of our lives in November 2019. When we found her at the San Diego SPCA, we felt that she had chosen us just as much as we had chosen her, and we felt like a family - even just the three of us in a little apartment right out of college. Over 9 amazing years she traveled with us from the west coast to the east coast and across 6 different apartments and houses - throughout it all she happily munched on cat grass and skittered across floors as she chased her toy mouse, and she filled our days with cattitude and fuzzy rumbles. There isn't a day we don't miss her terribly, but her memory stays alive with us every day.
