The opening notes of this K. 356 sonata bring to my mind the bagpipes of my Galician childhood: a serene prelude to the passionate story that remains to unfold.

‘Per Cembalo ezpresso’ reads the score, unusually written in four staves. Yet another source of conjecture and hypothesis surrounding Scarlatti's work! The wide palette of sounds of the extraordinary Hass-Goble-Gotto three-manual harpsichord has allowed me to give free rein to my intuition by ‘orchestrating’ these two fascinating sonatas.
