Pamukkale Thermal Pools | Most Beautiful Place in Turkey

Welcome to Pamukkale A UNESCO World Heritage Site and a famed destination since Roman times. Enjoy the amazing calcium rich hot springs, the famed white outdoor pools and soak up not just healthy waters but historical traditions.
Pamukkale, meaning "cotton castle" in Turkish, is a natural site in Denizli Province in southwestern Turkey. The area is famous for a carbonate mineral left by the flowing of thermal spring water. It is located in Turkey's Inner Aegean region, in the River Menderes valley, which has a temperate climate for most of the year.

In this area, there are 17 hot water springs in which the temperature ranges from 35 °C (95 °F) to 100 °C (212 °F). The water that emerges from the spring is transported 320 metres (1,050 ft) to the head of the travertine terraces.
The geological phenomenon that is Pamukkale, literally "Cotton Castle" in Turkish, is also the site of the remarkably well-preserved ruins of the Greek-Roman city of Hierapolis.
Pamukkale referring to the bright white mineral deposits that cover the landscape outside the town. This visually striking region has been a desirable destination for centuries, due to the restorative qualities of its waters. Marvel at the strangeness of a landscape shaped by the calcite in the water, where you can see waterfalls frozen in stone and blue pools in tiered terraces.
The best way to approach the ancient site is to walk up through the formations on the travertine path, starting at the south gate to the site. You are not permitted to wear shoes or even sandals to do this, so bring your footwear along in a bag.
The Pamukkale natural thermal pools in Turkey, located in the River Menderes Valley in the inner Aegean region, are certainly massive, measuring about 2,700 meters (8,860 feet) long, 600 meters (1,970 feet) wide, and 160 meters (525 feet) high. It has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
There is a great source of water heated by lava, and the water dissolves pure white calcium, becomes saturated with it and carries it to the surface of the earth where it erupts and flows. On a steep hillside, cooled in the open air, calcium precipitates and sticks to the soil and forms white calcium “waterfalls” frozen in stone called travertine. Come and enjoy the health benefits of hot mineral water and the amazing view that this unique natural phenomenon provides.
The warmth of the water is not the only appealing aspect of these thermal pools, however. Equally as attractive is the striking contrast between the glistening pools and the travertine a type of white limestone deposited by thermal waters—that makes up the surrounding mountains.
When you get closer, you soon realise that this is a white rock mountain, made of calcite terraces that were formerly full of warm thermal water. It truly is a natural wonder and something that looks so incredibly out of place that you can’t believe it’s not man made. It’s sights like these that keep us travelling the world year after year.
Today, Pamukkale is a popular tourist destination and one of the most visited attractions in Turkey
