Akane-banashi has released less than 30 chapters, but the manga might be the most consistent new series being published by Shōnen Jump in 2022. There’s a reason both One Piece’s Eiichiro Oda and Evangelion’s Hideaki Anno have recommended the series to manga fans, but can a story about a subject as specific as rakugo survive longer than a year at Weekly Shonen Jump? I personally really hope so. Too many manga get canceled before they are given a proper chance, and Akane-banashi definitely deserves time in the spotlight, or maybe even an anime adaptation.
