Thus, the Belgian mining giant Umicore, spearhead of certain eco-responsible funds, denied for nearly 40 years the contamination and toxicity of the soil around its former mines in the CĂ©vennes, in France. The concentrations of lead, zinc and cadmium are implicated in recurring cancers among the population.
