In a marksmanship competition, Lin McAdam wins a highly coveted Winchester rifle, but his victory is short-lived when the runner-up, Dutch Henry Brown, steals it right away. The story then unfolds as McAdam relentlessly tracks down Brown, while the rifle itself passes through various hands along the way. The pursuit eventually leads to a dramatic final confrontation and gunfight on a rugged mountain cliff.
