Hoe kan wonen in de stad weer betaalbaar worden voor iedereen? Het gerenommeerde architectenbureau Dogma ziet een oplossing in collectief wonen en koppelt er een eeuwenoud gebouwtype aan: de stadsvilla. Het Vlaams Architectuurinstituut nodigde hen uit om dit onderzoek te presenteren in de tentoonstelling Dogma: Stadsvilla.

De tentoonstelling stelt vragen over hoe we wonen: Hoe kunnen we ons beter verbinden? Wat is de rol van architectuur? In een video lichten architecten Pier Vittorio Aureli en Martino Tattara toe hoe de collectieve stadsvilla een antwoord kan bieden op de wooncrisis.

De tentoonstelling bestaat uit twee delen. Deel één toont de geschiedenis van de stadsvilla als een specifieke typologie; van herenhuis tot meergezinswoning in steden als Lausanne, Berlijn en Rome. Het tweede deel presenteert een reeks ontwerpvoorstellen van Dogma. Vier projecten benaderen de stadsvilla als een coöperatieve woning, een ander project gebruikt de stadsvilla als collectief en betaalbaar huisvestingsmodel.

How can we live communally and make housing in an urban environment more affordable and attractive? The renowned architectural firm Dogma sees a solution in a time-honoured building type: the urban villa. The Flanders Architecture Institute invited them to present this research in the exhibition Dogma: Urban Villa.

The exhibition asks questions about how we live: How can we connect better? What is the role of architecture? In a video, architects Pier Vittorio Aureli and Martino Tattara explain how the collective urban villa can provide an answer to the housing crisis

The exhibition consists of two parts. The first outlines the history of the urban villa as a specific typology; from town houses to multi-family residences in cities such as Lausanne, Berlin and Rome. The second section showcases a series of design proposals by Dogma. Four projects approach the urban villa as a cooperative home, while another presents it as a collective and affordable housing model.
