The Grand Republic is, in my opinion, one of the finer musical ensembles representing today's fife and drum corps movement. Led in part by the exquisite drumming of Scott Mitchell, they are keeping the tradition alive with grace, style and outstanding musicianship.

Per their website:
"The Grand Republic Fife and Drum Corps recreates the sounds of the 1890's by marrying the legacy of the music performed by Civil War veterans with the nostalgia of the Gilded Age. Playing on hand-crafted keyless wooden fifes and rope-tension drums, the corps' repertoire draws on the rich heritage of American music from the period following the War Between the States.

"Dressed in band-style uniforms, the corps pays homage to the many town bands that were popular around the turn of the century. Musical selections capture a wide range of Americana, from well-known patriotic and folk songs of that period, to circus tunes and cakewalks.

"The corps is comprised of members from throughout the Northeast who are acknowledged leaders in today's fife and drum community through their performance, instruction, composition, and musical arrangement."

Recorded in 2023 at the 20th Anniversary of the Lexington Tattoo & Muster, in Lexington, MA. (hosted by the Willam Diamond Junior Fife and Drum Corps), this was a two-day event comprised of a Tattoo on May 5th held on the Lexington Battle Green, followed by the Parade and Muster at Hastings Park on May 6th.
