Top 10 Questions on Second Opinions - Premium Cataract or Lens Replacement Surgery. Shannon Wong, MD

Question #7: If you have already had cataract surgery or premium lens replacement surgery, is there a window of time by which you have to make a decision to undergo intraocular lens exchange (or IOLX) surgery?
Yes and No. Is it easier to perform an IOLX within the first 3-6 months after your original surgery?....Yes.
Is it possible to perform IOLX years after your original surgery. Yes. But performing IOLX one year or more after your original surgery is more complex and involved. We have performed IOLX years after patients’ original surgery, but we are very selective about which patients we offer that surgery for and we advise them of the complex nature of their request.
