A moderate earthquake struck east of Turkiye on Wednesday, causing widespread panic, officials said. More than 40 people were being treated in hospital but there were no reports of serious injuries or significant damage.

The quake was felt in nearby provinces including Diyarbakir, Elazig, Sanliurfa and Tunceli, as well as parts of northern Syria.
